Originally the Discover® Platinum Card, the Discover® More® credit card continues to offer a great value for consumers who enjoy the convenience of carrying a balance on their credit card.

Discover® More® Card interest rates

The Discover® More® Card offers extremely competitive regular interest rates and a 0% introductory APR on balance transfers for 12 months and purchases for six months. Discover® Cards are also noted for offering higher credit limits to qualified borrowers than Visa and MasterCards.

Discover® More® Card acceptance rate

The Discover® More® Card is selective, but may be available to applicants with average credit. Applicants with FICO credit scores above 650 are usually accepted; applicants with FICO credit scores between 600 and 649 may be accepted depending on your credit usage, history, and income. Applicants with FICO credit scores below 600 may only be accepted if you have a high income and low credit utilization and your recent credit history shows substantial improvement.

Editor’s review: Blue Cash from American Express is one of our most recommended credit cards because it is the only credit card with which you can earn 5% cash back at grocery stores, gas stations, and drugstores.

Rewards: Card members earn 1% cash back for every purchase made at supermarkets, gas stations, and drugstores and 0.5% cash back for every purchase made everywhere else for spending up to $6,500 per year. Once card members reach $6,500 in annual spending, they earn 5% cash back at supermarkets, gas stations, and drugstores and 1.5% on all other purchases. There is no limit on the amount of cash back you can earn.

Rates and fees: Blue Cash from American Express carries no annual fee. The APR for this card will be determined based upon your credit worthiness and is variable, currently between 17.24% and 21.24%.

New card members get a 0% introductory APR on purchases for up to 6 months. Blue Cash from American Express uses the average daily balance method (including new purchases) of calculating your monthly balance. This card has a 20 day grace period.

Card members can get a $100 statement credit back if you purchase a $3,000 vacation from American Express Travel Services.

Buyers Assurance – Get a double warranty for products you purchase with your card up, up to one additional year of coverage. Coverage is good for up to a purchase of $10,000 and up to $50,000 worth of purchases a year.

Purchase Protection Plan – Enjoy the ability to return any purchase if it is accidentally damaged in 90 days.

Discover Escape Credit Card review

The Escape® by Discover® Card, new for 2009, is designed to become the miles credit card of choice for anybody wanting to build up free travel on any airline fast. The Discover Escape credit card is unique because it offers double miles with every purchase that can be used for travel anytime on any airline with no restrictions or blackout dates. Most airline credit cards only offer 1x miles or provide double miles only on purchases in certain categories.

Discover Escape Credit Card rewards

Not only will you earn unlimited double miles with every purchase, new cardmembers will also earn 25,000 bonus miles over the first two years. (1,000 miles for every month you make a purchase on the card for the first 25 months). That could be enough for a free ticket alone! Plus, you don’t have to use your miles for air travel—miles can be redeemed for cash back or gift cards or merchandise from 90 retail partners.

Discover Escape Credit Card interest rates (APR)

The Escape® by Discover® Card has a competitive regular interest rate, or APR, as low as 10.99%. The regular APR is determined by each applicant’s credit history, and could be higher—up to 18.99%.

The Escape® by Discover® Card also offers a 0% introductory APR for six months on both purchases and balance transfers.

Discover Escape Credit Card annual fee

The Discover Escape credit card does carry a $60 annual fee, which is quite good for a card that provides basically double the rewards benefits of no fee cards. If you spend enough each month on your card to earn a free airline ticket or two in a year, the $60 fee is well worth it. If not, no-fee cash back cards like the Discover More Card or American Express Blue Cash might be better choices.
